Starting off this summer trip through Denmark, Germany, Sweden, & Norway with a quick stop in London! And by quick... I mean quick! Read on to see how I spent 19 hours in England's capital.

After a 10 hour flight from the US to London, I took a long ride from Heathrow airport to The Shard. I'd spend the night in the stunning Shangri-La hotel inside London's Shard, the tallest building in the UK.

The hotel is decorated in a mix of real and faux flowers, glass bubbles and butterflies, & filled with a floral fragrance to match. The most spectacular part of it all is the view! If you have less than 24 hours in the city, a great view is the best way to see it all.

From my window I could see the London Bridge, Tower Bridge, and so much more. Since my trip is so short, I got most of my sight seeing done via car. While driving I saw the MI5 building, Downing Street, Westminster Abbey, the London Eye, and even jumped out of an Uber to take a picture in front of Big Ben.

I've been dying to see the Heathers musical, so I pre-purchased tickets and saw the show in a small off the West End theatre. It was fabulous, hilarious, and another item checked off my bucket list!

The theatre was only a 5 minute walk from Buckingham Palace and the Victoria Memorial so that was my next stop post show. I'd only seen them during the day on my previous trip, so visiting at night was a special treat.

Pro-Tip:

  • If you really wan't great pictures, try visiting popular tourist attractions early in the morning or (my preference) at night. There are way fewer people and the buildings are often nicely lit up.

  • If you want pictures of you and the monument at night, use the night shift setting on your phone, not flash. The picture may look dark but it is easy to edit later. Using flash will make you look good, but the building will be dark and it is hard to fix later.

That was all I could squeeze into my short stop in London! After in-room dinner, it was time to call it a night and get ready for tomorrow's adventures. In the morning, I'll be driving out of the city to catch a boat cruising for Denmark!

As always, I can't wait to share my adventures with you all.

Always,

Paris
