Welcome to a NYC rooftop party! Learn about the BEST way to ring in the New Year in Times Square. Hello 2022!
It's the last day of 2021! It was a wild ride, but we made it! To start off the last day of the year I headed over to Tavern on the Green in Central Park. Per usual, the food was fantastic! We ordered roasted figs paired with honey, goat cheese, arugula, and air cured beef as a scrumptious table appetizer. For my main meal I had the Scottish Salmon with fava beans and roasted vegetables - very good!
I am super interested in journalism and am currently planning on pursuing a Journalism in college, so after lunch I stopped by ABC Studios and The New York Times buildings. Although I couldn't go in, it was amazing to see the place where big names in journalism go to work each day.
New Year's Eve in New York is always crazy, so I usually fly out on the 31st, but this year, I committed to spending NYE in NYC. However, I would never watch the ball drop from the street. It is far too crowded (especially with Covid), people are always pushing each other, and it is tough to see when you are packed together so tightly. So, I decided to watch the ball drop in Times Square from the roof of the Knickerbocker Hotel, directly across from the ball.
Speaking of how crazy the city is on NYE, I actually got out of my Uber more then 6 blocks away from my hotel in the early afternoon because the traffic was so bad and roads were already closed. To get through the road blockades, even as a pedestrian, I had to show a letter from the Knickerbocker about the New Year's party to the police. It was so busy that a police officer actually escorted us all the way to our hotel. Then it was time to chill and get ready to celebrate the new year in New York.
There are different levels of access you can buy for the rooftop party, some allow rooftop access with no dinner, some allow rooftop access with a seat but no dinner etc. We opted for dinner and rooftop access with no seat which ended up being perfect. Dinner was a wonderful buffet style display and even had live music.
After dinner it was time to head up to the roof! Upon stepping off the elevator we were met with show girls, DJ music, live saxophone, and performances from samba and belly dancers. With such incredible decorations and entertainment the time until the New Year's countdown flew by. Soon enough we were watching the ball drop and ringing in the new year!
There was truly no bad view of the ball and it was many times less crowded that it was on the street. This is really the best way to watch the ball drop in person that I've found so far! I hope 2022 is off to a wonderful start for you all and I am so excited to bring you along on another year of adventures! Happy New Year!
Always,
Paris
