I kinda almost made it to Kotor, Montenegro... Here's what you can do with a day on a cruise ship when things just don't go to plan.
I got up this morning as the ship was approaching the beautiful coastline of Montenegro and ate a quick breakfast in the room. I was just finishing up when I heard an announcement over the intercom alerting us that due to gale force winds, it would take us an extra hour or two to get into port. So in the meantime I read the paper and waited as our ship tried to maneuver in. Unsurprisingly, the winds were just too much and our ship would not be able to make it into port and we would have a day at sea. Huge bummer. So, as our ship turned around, I grabbed a few photos of Montenegro from afar.
So, what to do when you are stuck on a boat? Well, there are a lot of things to do! First off, my mom and I went up to the spa to make appointments for later that day - it was certainly a popular choice as we got some of the last spots available. After, we spent some time reading on the deck, exploring the ship's library, and I grabbed a coffee from the barista bar. Many people were laying out at the pool and later on we grabbed a light lunch.
After lunch it was spa time! It was so relaxing! Then we explored the game room and did a puzzle - something I haven't done in years. Back at the room we sat out on the balcony and read and I practiced some Spanish. Soon it was time to get ready for dinner at the Italian restaurant, Tuscana, on board. Our dinner was incredible and had not only amazing food, but was also an amazing experience.
Things to do on board the Riviera:
- Play board games
- Read in the library
- Swim in the pool
- Go to the spa
- Go to the boutiques
- Attend scheduled entertainment
- Play ping pong and shuffleboard
- Trivia games
- Cooking demonstrations
- Visit the art gallery
Even though our day in Kotor was a bust, it truly was nice to relax and spend quality time with my mom while exploring all that the Oceania Riviera has to offer.
Always,
Paris
